Day of the Dead: Free resources!

Tomorrow is the one of my FAVORITE days of the year because I love sharing the rich culture and tradition of Día de muertos with my students but it is definitely one of the hardest days of the year to teach, because many of our students are coming down off of a HUGE sugar high and a LATE night…
Regardless, I wanted to re-share with you some of my old resources and plans which I’ve done previously. Pictures for picture talk, clips for clip chat, ideas for connections with other content areas and much more. All of these you can find in this old blog. AND I wanted to share a new easy peasy resource for you to use tomorrow. Obviously you will want to customize it a little and make it your own….
Tomorrow my students will complete a coloring page of Calaveras (there are three options) but it will be a color by number activity just like my Easter Egg hunt activity I shared with you a couple of years ago!! It is much more simple though… 
If you click here on this document you can download a PDF version of these with the numbers drawn in.
They will color each part a different color based on answering some questions on Day of the Dead which we will “review” since we learned so much last year, and then there are some personal questions too! This is the part you may want to edit and adjust for your classes. I only have 9 questions and 9 numbers on the calavera. When you click on that link it will take you to a document and force you to make a copy so you can’t edit my original. 🙂
I think it will be a perfect activity for tomorrow since I will review Day of the Dead first with the clip chat I showed last year. They will point out the different elements of Día de Muertos that they recognize and remember and what their significance is, then they’ll color this in! I am so excited!
